CODY BUSTAMANTE

Cody is a visual artist working primarily in drawing and painting media. His work often explores cultural, individual, and environmental dislocation. Cody’s work often includes visual quotes from science, literature, and cultural iconography in spare, abstract spaces. He also regularly exploits perceptual dissonance and the resulting possible narrative ambiguities.

Cody A. Bustamante has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States and Mexico. His work is in numerous collections including the Portland Art Museum, University of Texas, Microsoft, Bank of America, Oregon Health Sciences University, Oregon State University, Southern Oregon State University, and the University of Oregon. He is a recent recipient of The Ford Family Foundation Fellowship and the Djerassi Foundation Fellowship and Residency in Woodside, California. He has had prior artist residencies at the Centrum Foundation in Seattle, Washington, Majestic Art Foundation in San Antonio, Texas, University of Texas in San Antonio, Texas, Artist on Location in Kathmandu, Nepal, University of Houston in Houston, Texas, University of Guanajuato in Guanajuato, Mexico, and National Park Service at Crater Lake, Oregon. Cody lives and works in Jacksonville, Oregon and is an Emeritus Professor of Art at the Oregon Center for the Arts at Southern Oregon University.
